An appetizer...to get us started

Welcome, one and all, to the first blog of the Des Moines Dinner Club.  We are made up of several sophisticated eaters in the Des Moines metro area who have been meeting monthly since June of 2007 at unique local eateries.  When I say that we are sophisticated eaters...I mean it...we debate the longevity of a good meal based on it's flavor in our burps, many of us truly believe anything and everything is made better with bacon, we've made restaurant choices solely based on their salad dressing choice, and I'm even pretty sure I've seen one of us eating ranch dressing with a spoon...I won't name any names.  In fact, "Dinner Club" is only our default title as we've never all been able to agree on our actual name which has ranged from "Restaurant Club" to "The Fellowship of the Bulging Trousers" to "The Sisterhood."  So call us whatever you want...just don't call us late for dinner....huh...huh...nudge, nudge.   (okay, sorry...that was pretty lame)

I'll let everyone else introduce themselves over time... I, however, am Dylan.  I am one of the original 7 members, though we're now up to an even 10.  To review our pre-blog days...my restaurant choices in the past included Tandoor (on 8th street in West Des Moines), the site of the very first meeting and the place wiht the best Murgh Julfrazi around, and Paradise Pizza Cafe (on Grand in West Des Moines), whose calzones are second to none in Des Moines.

Due to several marriages and other events in the last few months, we've had a brief lull; however, we are now ready to get back to work giving our stamp of approval (or rarely, if ever, disapproval) to our favorite resataurants.   So here it is, January 2009....It's cold outside, I'm hungry...what are we gonna eat?
